Open Personal Account

It's easy to join UVA Community Credit Union. If you meet our membership eligibility you can join. When you open your membership account, you open a share savings account and become a member-owner of the credit union with access to all of the credit union's services and deposit and lending products.

Once you've established your membership/share savings account at the credit union, you're eligible to switch all of your accounts to UVA Community Credit Union.

To open a membership account, complete a membership application and mail or bring it to any of our branch locations.  You will need to make a $30.00 deposit into your share savings account ($5.00 of which is a one-time membership fee).

Completing the membership application:

  1. Have the member/owner signature and any joint owner signatures notarized (page 3 of the membership application)
  2. Complete and have notarized the Member Identity and Verification Card included in the membership application
  3. Include a check for $30.00 to open your share savings account and pay the one-time $5.00 membership fee. If you are also opening a checking account, you will need to send an additional $50.00 for the checking account opening deposit.
  • If you are bringing the completed application to a branch:
  1. Member/owner or joint owners who will be bringing the application to the branch should bring the identification documents specified on the Member Identity and Verification Card included in the membership application
  2. Member/owner or joint owners who will not be present at the branch, should have their signatures notarized on page 3 of the membership application and complete and have notarized the Member Identity and Verification Card included in the membership application
  3. Bring $30.00 to open your share savings account ($5.00 of which is a one-time membership fee). If you are also opening a checking account, you will need to bring an additional $50.00 for the checking account opening deposit.

If you are already a member:

Members can easily open checking and other deposit accounts at the credit union.  If you're not a member, you only need to meet the membership requirements stated above to open a membership account.

To open a checking account:

  1. Have the member/owner signature and any joint owner signatures notarized (page 3 of the new checking application)
  2. Complete and have notarized a Member Identity and Verification Card for any joint owner who is not already a member of the credit union. (You do not have to complete the form for anyone who is already a member of the credit union.)
  3. Include a check for $50.00 for the checking account opening deposit.
  • If you are bringing the completed application to a branch:
  1. Joint owners who are not already members of the credit union should either bring the identification documents specified on the Member Identity and Verification Card or, if they will not be present at the branch, they should have their signatures notarized on page 3 of the new checking application and complete and have notarized the Member Identity and Verification Card
  2. Bring $50.00 for the checking account opening deposit.
  • Use our switch kit to easily close your checking account at another institution or to set up automatic payments and debits to your UVA Community Credit Union checking account.

Members can easily apply for a loan or credit card with the credit union.  You can apply online, call us at 434-964-2001 or stop by any branch. If you're not a member, you only need to meet the membership requirements stated above to open a membership account. You can apply for a loan or credit card before establishing membership.
