As we welcome Charlottesville Postal FCU members, our priority is to make this transition as smooth as possible with relevant information and outlined expectations. We hope you find this information helpful.

Q. Why are Charlottesville Postal FCU and UVA Community Credit Union merging?
A. The Charlottesville Postal FCU Board of Directors recommended the merger as it was considered to be in the best interest of its members. Members will have access to additional financial services and new points of service.

 

Q. When will the merger and account transfers occur and how will it affect my membership?

  1. The merger was effective January 1, 2018. All CPFCU Members will become members of UVA Community Credit Union. Please continue to utilize the CPFCU branch for all of your credit union transactions until 5 pm on February 27, 2018.
  2. The next step is the account migration between CPFCU and UVA Community Credit Union scheduled to occur March 1, 2018.
  3. Members can find information about the transition by visiting us online at uvacreditunion.org/CPFCU.
  4. New accounts will be available to you March 1, 2018. As explained in the Welcome and Disclosure packet mailing, there will be some changes in account terms. You will receive additional communications regarding any specific changes to your accounts.

 

Q. What will happen to the CPFCU branch?
A. The CPFCU branch will be permanently closed on February 27th at 5 pm. However, we have several local branches and ATMs for your convenience. Please visit our Branch Locator to find one near you.

 

Q. Will my accounts still be federally insured?
A. Yes. Like CPFCU, UVA Community Credit Union is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration. Accounts are insured up to $250,000.

 

Q. Is there anything I can do now to prepare for the merger?
A. As we begin the merger process, please verify and/or update your contact information such as mailing and email addresses, home and mobile phone numbers. This can be done by reviewing and updating your contact information within Online Banking or calling the CPFCU branch.

  • Begin to create a list of your direct deposits into your account and pre-authorized drafts withdrawn from your account. Each of these will need to be changed after the account conversion on March 1st.

 

Q. Will my direct deposit and preauthorized drafts be affected?
A. Yes, after March 1st please update your direct deposit information with your employer as well as all preauthorized draft information. For your convenience, we will accept your CPFCU checks, direct deposits and automatic clearing house (ACH) payments to and from your CPFCU account for a period of time after March 1st. We will provide you with ample time to update your payment information with authorized third parties and will work with you to confirm that transactions are properly transitioned.

  • You will receive account details and numbers in late February. Use this information to notify the originators of your direct deposits and drafts to move them to your new UVA Community Credit Union account after March 1st. Please visit your CPFCU branch if you need assistance prior to March 1st.

 

Q. Where can I learn about additional products and services UVA Community Credit Union has to offer?
A. A Service Guide will be included in the Welcome and Disclosure packet. You may visit our website, uvacreditunion.org for additional information about products & services. You may also contact UVA Community Credit Union at 434-964-2001, option 5, to speak with a member service representative.

 

Q. What if I am already a UVA Community Credit Union member?
A. Every account at CPFCU will be transitioned to a new UVA Community Credit Union account. Once the merger is complete you may easily merge the new account with your existing UVA Community Credit Union account at any branch location.

 

Q. When will I receive my final CPFCU account statement?
A. Final statements from CPFCU will be dated February 28, 2018 and will be mailed the first week of March. All accounts will receive mailed statements, even those registered to receive only E-statements.

 

Q. When will I receive my new account numbers?
A. Your new account number(s) will arrive in late February and instructions will be provided for transitioning your direct deposit and pre-authorized drafts. UVA Community Credit Union will also provide you with a supply of checks free of charge.

 

Q. Does UVA Community Credit Union participate in the CULIANCE ATM surcharge-free network?

Q. When will I receive my UVA Community Credit Union debit card?  
A. You will receive your new debit card and PIN by February 26th. On March 1st, activate and begin using your new debit card and PIN and destroy your old one immediately. As a reminder, please provide your new payment/card information to authorized third parties to process recurring debit card transactions.

 

Q. When is the last day I can use my CPFCU debit card?
A.The last day to use your CPFCU debit card is February 27th at 5 pm.

 

Online Banking and E-statements

Q. Will I have access to my previous Online Banking, Bill Pay, and E-statement history?
A. Due to system changes, all account histories will be unavailable via Online Banking once the account transition has been completed. We recommend you download or print any statements you may need. Also be sure to copy or print your Bill Pay payees and bill information so you may enter them into the new system.

  • The last day/time Bill Pay transactions will be processed will be February 27th at noon. After that time, CPFCU’s Bill Pay system will be disabled. Additionally, the final day for scheduled transfers in Online Banking will be February 27th until 5 pm. Any transfers scheduled after 5 pm on February 27th will not take place.

 

Loans and Credit Cards

Q. Will my CPFCU loan/credit card account be affected?
A. Loan and credit card accounts will be transferred to UVA Community Credit Union along with your other accounts. Outstanding balances will carry over with comparable rates and terms. More information about your specific loan(s) will be mailed to you.
