UVA Community Credit Union will award a total of ten (10) scholarships of up to $5,000* annually to support the higher education goals of our members, and future leaders.

Doing well in high school and in college requires hard work and dedication. We believe that high achievers, in the classroom and in other endeavors, should be rewarded. At UVA Community Credit Union, we annually award scholarships to help students achieve their goals through academic advancement.
Submission and Selection Process

Winners will be selected by the Jeffrey C. Moscicki Scholarship Program Committee. Essays will be judged on clarity, content, spelling, and grammar. Winners will be notified via phone/email on or before April 3, 2026. To formally accept the scholarship award, recipients must submit all requested information from the notification email within 10 days of receipt. Scholarship recipients will be invited to attend the Credit Union's Annual Meeting on April 29, 2026, where they will be recognized by our members and our Board of Directors.

Winners will be selected by the Jeffery C. Moscicki Scholarship Program Committee. Essays will be judged on clarity, content, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Winners will be notified via phone/email. To formally accept the scholarship award, recipients must submit all requested information from the notification email within 15 days of receipt. Scholarship recipients will be invited to attend the Credit Union's Annual Meeting where they will be recognized by our members and our Board of Directors.
To qualify for one of the ten (10) 2025/26 Scholarship Awards, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Student must be a current member of UVA Community Credit Union at the time of application
- Must be a high school senior, or college freshman, sophomore, or junior who will be attending an accredited two- or four-year U.S. college or university in the fall of 2026 as a full time student
- Must have a GPA of at least 2.70 (winner may be asked to provide a copy of their transcript)
- Prior scholarship recipients meeting all eligibility criteria above may apply for additional awards
One scholarship will be designated for the child, grandchild, or custodial child of a UVA Community Credit Union team member.
- Checks will be mailed and made payable directly to the student’s college or university for the 2026 fall semester
- Scholarship awards cannot be deferred
- Scholarships may be considered taxable income, recipients should check with their tax advisor
- Upon submission all entries become the property of UVA Community Credit Union
- The Credit Union may utilize a portion of your essay for publicity
- Winners will be asked to submit a photo for publicity
- Publicity may include, but is not limited to: print publications, social media content, press releases, etc.
- Announcements may include scholarship recipient’s name, contents of the entry, a photo, and other reported information
The Jeffrey C. Moscicki Scholarship Program was established to honor the legacy and dedication of the late Jeffrey C. Moscicki, who served as the Board Chair of UVA Community Credit Union from 1998 until his passing in February 2024. He had a distinguished career in the medical and clinical research field, served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, volunteered locally, and was a highly esteemed member of the UVA Community Credit Union family. His steadfast commitment to the principles of financial well-being, combined with his passion for supporting young people in achieving their goals through higher education, left a lasting impact. Through his commitment and guidance, our scholarship program was significantly strengthened, furthering his legacy of helping others achieve success.
*Standard scholarship award is $5,000. When tuition is less than $5,000 UVA Community Credit Union will cover 100% of tuition costs up to $5,000. UVA Community Credit Union reserves the right to discontinue or modify its scholarship program, or any component thereof, and to revise any or all of the scholarship requirements, processes, or eligibility criteria at any time.
