UVA Community Credit Union Announces New Headquarters Building Opening in Summer 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Charlottesville, VA — UVA Community Credit Union has exciting plans to construct a new headquarters building at 1201 5th Street SW, furthering its commitment to enhancing the financial wellness of its members and the surrounding community. The move comes as part of an effort to create a more accessible and collaborative environment.

Demolition of the existing structure began in October 2024 to ensure compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Construction of a modern Jeffersonian-style building is set to start in January 2025, with an expected occupancy by summer 2026.

“We are excited about this project, which reflects our mission of service excellence and gratitude towards our members,” said Susan Gruber, President/CEO of UVA Community Credit Union. “The new headquarters will provide much-needed space for our growing Credit Union and create one shared location for our team to collaborate effectively. This will help us enhance our internal operations while reinforcing our commitment to the community we serve.”

Importantly, the new headquarters will not function as a branch; it will house back-office employees, allowing existing branches to continue providing excellent service without disruption. The Credit Union reassured members that all current branch locations will remain open during this transition.

As this project unfolds, UVA Community Credit Union aims to create a space that embodies its core values and strengthens its mission to support the financial wellness of its community. Stay tuned for further updates on this significant development.
