UVA Community Credit Union Awards $50,000 in Scholarships

Charlottesville, Virginia, June 2, 2025: UVA Community Credit Union proudly recognized the recipients of the 2024 - 2025 Jeffrey C. Moscicki Scholarship during its Annual Meeting on May 28. These outstanding students exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and a profound commitment to community service—values that reflect and honor the legacy of Jeffrey C. Moscicki.
“At UVA Community Credit Union, we believe education is a powerful catalyst for personal growth, economic opportunity, and stronger communities,” said Susan Gruber, President/CEO of UVA Community Credit Union. “Our scholarship program is one of the many ways we support the dreams and futures of local students. This year marks a significant new chapter in that commitment.”
In 2024, the Credit Union’s scholarship program was renamed in memory of Jeffrey C. Moscicki, who served with distinction as Chair of the Board of Directors from 1998 until his passing in February 2024. A passionate advocate for education, public service, and financial wellness, Jeff’s legacy lives on through this meaningful initiative.
Under his leadership, the scholarship program expanded significantly. This year, the Credit Union awarded 10 scholarships of $5,000 each. One scholarship is now specifically designated for the child or grandchild of a UVA Community Credit Union team member, further emphasizing the organization’s commitment to family and community.
The 2025 scholarship recipients were selected based on their academic achievements, leadership qualities, and compelling responses to the essay prompt: “As a community credit union, we are committed to supporting our community. How do you plan to give back and improve your community after graduating?”
The students’ responses were nothing short of extraordinary. They spoke of returning to their hometowns to uplift others, launching initiatives to address inequality, and becoming leaders who inspire real, lasting change. Their words moved us. Their visions gave us hope. And their hearts reminded us why this program matters so deeply.
UVA Community Credit Union congratulates the 2025 scholarship recipients and looks forward to supporting their journeys as they continue to make a difference in the world.
