Board of Directors
Who is looking out for your best interests? Nine hard-working volunteers who come from a variety of backgrounds and bring considerable expertise to the table.
Our leaders are Credit Union members - just like you.
Their efforts keeps us moving forward.
It takes a lot of good people to keep the UVA Community Credit Union operating the way we want. That includes the financial professionals who assist you in our Virginia locations. It also includes our unpaid Board of Directors - chosen by the vote of our members - who devote countless hours to setting strategy, formulating policy and ensuring that we meet our own high standards.Pamela W. The primary responsibility of the Board of Directors is to serve the UVA Community Credit Union membership and be accountable for the actions of the corporation to governing regulatory agencies and its member/owners. Each director is responsible individually and collectively for protecting the best interests of the corporation and its member/owners, and for ensuring the Credit Union is soundly managed. Directors must exercise their powers and discharge their duties in good faith and with loyalty and duty of care to the Credit Union, and do so without conflict of interest.
A strong Board is made up from diverse backgrounds to guide the strategic direction of the Credit Union. The following are the minimum requirements to serve:
- Dutifully serve as a member of the Board by committing the time and effort to educate themselves about industry matters and participate in training opportunities
- Maintain oversight responsibility for advancing the Credit Union’s mission and goals
- Be prepared for and actively participate in Board meetings, and constructively engage in the work of the Board
- Must be a Credit Union member in good standing and at least 18 years old
The Board appoints a Governance Committee to recommend qualified candidates for expiring terms and vacant positions on the Board of Directors. The Governance Committee’s review includes incumbents and members at large who have submitted an application for a volunteer position. Volunteer roles for the Board of Directors are unpaid and serve two-year terms.
If you are interested in applying for a volunteer seat on the Board of Directors, you can submit a Statement of Interest online. Within one to two businesses days of submission, you will receive an application that must be completed and returned no later than the first of October of the year prior to election year.
