UVA Community Credit Union Foundation Drives Positive Change

Charlottesville, VA, October 8, 2025 – UVA Community Credit Union proudly introduced the UVA Community Credit Union Foundation earlier this year, a new initiative created to address some of the most pressing challenges facing the communities it serves. Following its successful launch in August, the Foundation continues to build momentum and is accepting grant applications through October 15, inviting nonprofits to partner in creating meaningful, measurable change.

“We believe in more than providing financial services, we believe in creating lasting impact,” said Janine Williams, Vice President of Credit Union Affairs at UVA Community Credit Union. “Through our new Foundation, we’re deepening our commitment to building a stronger tomorrow, together.”

A New Way to Give Back, Lift Up, and Bring Hope. Rooted in the Credit Union’s long-standing mission to strengthen the financial wellness of its members and communities, the UVA Community Credit Union Foundation expands that vision to include three critical areas of need:

• Children’s Health and Wellness: Supporting organizations that promote healthy development and provide care for children and their families.
• Food Stability: Partnering with local groups to combat hunger and food insecurity across Central Virginia.
• Affordable Housing: Supporting efforts to create, renovate, and advocate for accessible, stable housing options.

“These aren’t just issues, they’re calls to action,” said Williams. “And we’re answering them by partnering with civic leaders and nonprofits that know how to make a real difference.”

The Foundation is accepting grant applications through October 15, offering local nonprofits a meaningful opportunity to secure funding and expand their impact. Organizations aligned with the Foundation’s mission are encouraged to go here for full application details. Key dates for the grant cycle are: applications accepted through October 15; the Board will review applications from October 16 through November 30; and funding decisions will be announced by December 1.
