Credit Union Membership

Benefits: When You're a Member You're an Owner

When you are a member of the credit union, you are part of something special. Credit unions are unique among financial institutions in being completely owned by their members-and that makes a real difference.
Because we don't have stockholders, we're not driven to turn a profit at the expense of those who use our services. Our sole mission is to help our personal and business member-owners achieve their financial goals by offering a wide variety of financial products & services-from lending and deposit products to electronic banking services-that combine competitive rates with outstanding service. Our deposit accounts are insured to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration, a U.S. government agency.

Membership Eligibility

Individual credit union membership is open to those who live, work, or own a business headquartered in the City of Charlottesville or the counties of Albemarle, Culpeper, Fauquier, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, Orange or Rappahannock.

  • Once you join the credit union, you may remain a member for life, even if your place of residence changes.
  • A one-time membership fee of $5.00 is required to establish membership.
  • Each member owns one share and votes annually for a volunteer board of directors.

As a first step in becoming a member, we invite you to join the financial institution dedicated to meeting your financial needs.
